Responsible lending

Credit should help, not harm.

We would rather decline an application than place someone under financial strain.

Affordability comes first

Before any offer, we look at your income, your regular expenses, your existing debt repayments and your dependants, and we consider what is realistically left over each month.

What we will not do

  • We do not guarantee approval or promise that everyone qualifies.
  • We do not hide fees or the cost of credit.
  • We do not encourage borrowing more than you asked for.
  • We do not make automated lending decisions based on a simple score alone.

Borrowing checklist

  • Borrow only the amount you actually need.
  • Be certain the repayment fits your monthly budget.
  • Understand the total amount repayable before you sign.
  • Ask us anything you are unsure about.

If repayment becomes difficult

Contact us early. We would rather work something out than let an account fall behind. You can also get free help from a registered debt counsellor or the National Credit Regulator.

Consequences of late payment

Late or missed payments may lead to additional costs, may be reported to credit bureaus where applicable, and may affect your ability to obtain credit in future.
